I don't understand why the case of Elvira Arellano, an illegal immigrant, deserves to be covered by the national media. Really, I don't. Because she'd been hiding in a Chicago church for a year? Because, while in the U.S. she had her "anchor baby"? Or because she decided that, for her, the best defense would be attack and went to speak on a number of those so-called "rallies" set up by her supporters?
"Don't let the Migra" take my mommy away" was written on a slogan during one of those events. Give me a break! Again, nobody seems to want to realize that it was Mrs. Arellano who came here illegally, had sex with a man, gave birth to a child and, being poor and illegal, put her baby through all these years or ordeal. Hello? Is anybody listening?
She is an illegal (not undocumented!) immigrant and has been rightfully kicked out of the country. Her son is a US citizen and free to stay here but somebody please explain to him that his dear mommy, though, I'm sure a loving one, is a highly irresponsible person. And the only thing she was entitled to was deportation. End of story.
